Overview & Reservation Policy
High school teachers are welcome to request workshops in the YOUmedia space during class visits. Whether the subject is language arts, social studies or science, we believe that every branch of academia can benefit from media arts and digital technology integration. Regardless of
the class structure or subject matter, YOUmedia school workshops are designed to provide students and teachers with innovative ways of approaching learning, project development, and collaboration.
Reservation and high school class visit policy
• Class visits may only be scheduled on Tuesdays or Thursdays between the times of 9 a.m. and noon. (Please note: The building is not open to patrons before 9 a.m.)
• In order to ensure a successful, productive visit, we request that class size not exceed 30 students.
• Please note that visits to YOUmedia are centered around workshops and projects. To schedule a research visit, please contact the Harold Washington Library Center directly at (312) 747-4300 or email [email protected].
• Students may check out books and equipment during their visit to YOUmedia. However, we ask that students in class groups share equipment when possible so that an adequate inventory is left for other student patrons.
• If students need library cards, we ask that copies of the library card form provided on the website be printed out and filled out before the visit. In order to complete the process, students will need to bring a photo ID and proof of residence in the City of Chicago (or a library card from their area branch if they live outside Chicago city limits).
• Please allow sufficient time (at least one month's advance notice) for planning and
arrangements. Because there is limited availability for class visits, please have alternative dates in mind.

We look forward to seeing you!
